Southeastern Conference for Public Administration (SECoPA)

October 2-5, 2002

Theme: The Administrative State and Rediscovery of the Human Spirit

Location: Columbia, SC

This year's SECoPA program has been designed to highlight the prospect of human creativity in public administration. The Conference will explore how creativity can cope with financial shortfalls and a multitude of changes and demands including the need for emergency preparedness, the preparation of the next generation of public administrators and to recognize the human element both in the delivery and the receipt of public services.

The South Carolina Chapter is looking forward to your visit to Columbia in October for the annual SECoPA Conference.

Chapter Election

Under the Chapter Constitution, the Governing Board consists of two elected Chapter Officers, two appointed Chapter Officers, and the eight-member Chapter Council. The Chapter members elect Officers for one year terms and Council Members for two-year terms. Two additional Chapter Officers, Treasurer and Secretary, are nominated by the Chapter President and appointed by the Chapter Council.

The 2002 Chapter Elections were completed in June 2002. William Ciaccio was re-elected as Chapter President. Edward Lewis Falterman was elected as Chapter Vice-President. The following were elected (or re-elected) to the Chapter Council: Sybil Alexander, Carolyn Hubbard Kamunanwire, Claudina Osborne, Lynne A. Weikart, and Caroline N. Westbrook. Paula Gerard, Peter Tinker, and Dan Williams remain on the Council in the second year of their two-year terms. Chris Meyer was re-appointed as Chapter Treasurer and Michael V. Jameson was re-appointed as Chapter Secretary.
